ABACUS 2021 Executive Elections
Are you studying archaeology, bioanthropology, anthropology, or museum and heritage studies at ANU, want to get involved with the student community and be part of the 2021 ABACUS executive?
It’s that time of year again where we need to start looking for next year’s ABACUS committee! Being part of ABACUS is a fantastic way to meet new friends and build a community at uni, while also looking excellent on your CV and providing great experience for your future career!
Due to covid, we are running elections a little differently this year, and asking you to nominate yourself for positions ahead of time. Please use the google doc linked here to nominate yourself for up to 3 different positions: https://docs.google.com/.../1FAIpQLSdCxXCIDFx.../viewform...
Please see below for a list of roles up for grabs as well as a short description of each. If you have any questions about any of these roles, and particularly the presidency, please contact us on abacusanu@gmail.com, we are here to offer our support!
Nominations will be closing on November 10th, after which voting will be conducted anonymously online and in-person at our upcoming AGM/end of year event (to be announced!)
About the roles:
President: lead event organisation and coordinate the executive team
Vice President: communicate with the student body and support the president
Secretary: take meeting minutes and manage membership list
Treasurer: apply for, and manage, grants (ie. ANUSA and SEEF)
Publications Officer: run social media and manage website
Postgrad Representative: Represent postgraduate and research students organise the project forum
General Representative: Assist with general tasks
I’m sure we can all agree that 2020 has been pretty weird, but we are looking forward to a much better 2021. This will of course include our exciting student conference and exhibition. While this event is ABACUS affiliated, it is being run by a separate committee, and thereby, isn’t the responsibility of next year’s president (although if you want to be on board you’re more than welcome!)
We’re so excited to find our wonderful next ABACUS team!
